BC Winemaker Manpreet Dhaliwal Named 30 Under 30 Honouree

Kismet Estate Winery head winemaker Manpreet Dhaliwal has earned a prestigious spot on the BCBusiness 30 Under 30 list for 2026. This recognition highlights her role as the first and only South Asian female head winemaker in Canada. Based in the South Okanagan, she manages the production for their family-run business which oversees more than 600 acres of vineyards. Their leadership marks a significant chapter for the Oliver winery as they prepare for a busy spring season.

Kismet Estate Winery will celebrate this achievement with a Red Carpet Winemaker’s Dinner on April 18. Guests attending this event at the Hangar event space can enjoy a multi-course meal provided by Manzil Restaurant. Tickets cost $150 per person and include a signed bottle of wine along with a seated dining experience. Their celebration aligns with the winery’s continued growth in direct-to-consumer sales and wine club engagement.

The 2026 season introduces the Virsa Series which represents a limited annual release of the top 1% of each vintage. Dhaliwal designed this collection to reflect their heritage and legacy through a vineyard-led approach. Another highly anticipated release includes the 2025 Viognier Reserve which is a small-lot wine exclusive to club members. Popular selections such as the 2024 Phulkari Rosé and the 2022 Cabernet Franc Reserve have already garnered critical acclaim through various industry awards.

Manzil Restaurant remains a key part of the guest experience by offering regional Indian dishes paired with estate wines. Visitors can explore the 2024 Sitara Frizzante or the bold 2022 Syrah while dining on the winery patio. New on-site accommodations will also debut this summer to provide a complete hospitality package for travellers. Their tasting room currently welcomes guests for weekday purchases while weekend tastings are available alongside small bites at the restaurant.

BCBusiness continues to track the influence of young leaders like Dhaliwal who shape the future of the province. Her transition from nursing to winemaking demonstrates a commitment to quality and precise craftsmanship. This honour places her among the top changemakers in British Columbia as she continues to elevate the South Okanagan wine landscape.
