Robin Esrock is an international best selling author, travel extraordinaire, and bucket list guru based in Vancouver. He has spent over a decade in search of the world’s bucket list experiences and his new book, “The Great Global Bucket List” is a culmination of his amazing adventures. I had the pleasure of meeting Robin where he shared some exciting and often hilarious insights from travelling over 100 countries and seven continents.
The event was hosted at Harambe, Commercial Drive’s well-known Ethiopian restaurant, where we indulged in a very hands-on dining experience. We enjoyed delicious combination platters and participated in a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony.
At the end of the night, Robin challenged us to tackle our bucket list with the help from Ford Canada who offered us the opportunity to try the 2017 Ford Escape Titanium SUV. And so one day recently, I was able to take the vehicle for a test drive and check off a few items on my YVR bucket list.
To start, I found the 2017 Ford Escape Titanium SUV to be rather stylish on the outside and unexpectedly roomy on the inside. In fact, the cabin can easily accommodate 5 large adults while still having enough luggage space behind the second row seats. It is also the best equipped model out of the Escape line up. The most noticeable upgrade, I learned, is the 2.0 L twin-scroll turbocharged engine – in other words, the car is zippy. Along with a sporty suspension setup, Titanium is guaranteed to make even the most mundane errand trips around town a lot more fun. I’m going to have to think long and hard about whether I will eventually want to get a car like this one, as I really did enjoy it. The professionals there recommended to me that if I were to get a Ford model of car, that I should consider having a look at these EBC brakes just in case I need to change the braking pads at some point in the future, as they are meant to be reliable. And if I had any issues with my car I could look into a reputable car service. Automotive repair companies similar to Browns Plains car service mechanics offers a heap of great services – click here to see the range. But as I said, I need to think long and hard about whether or not I want to buy this model of car first before thinking about brake pads.
A friend of mine recently stated she wanted to get a new car. She is a huge fan of SUVs and was going to visit somewhere similar to this Conklin cars and trucks dealership to find one, the Titanium is a car she might keep an eye on.
Other highlights of the car include creature comforts and electronic gadgets like leather seats, a 10-speaker stereo system, reverse camera, radar sensors, keyless entry, and more. The most satisfying feature, by far, was the foot-activated power tailgate. Anyone who uses their car for more than joy rides would absolutely enjoy this feature. A gentle kick of the rear bumper in conjunction with a smart key in the vicinity will open the tailgate for you. You will never set down your precious belongings on the wet pavement again! Overall, the Escape titanium is a feature-rich compact SUV that is fun to drive and practical. I would highly recommend it.
One YVR bucket list item I wanted to check off was seeing the Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge – one of Lynn Valley’s best kept secrets. While I was born and raised in Metro Vancouver, I had never been to the infamous Lynn Canyon Park which opened in 1912. So I decided to seize this opportunity to visit the bridge while taking a nice drive with the 2017 Ford Escape Titanium SUV to the North Shore.
The Lynn Canyon Suspension bridge is 50 meter high bridge that stretches across a stunning canyon with raging waters, waterfalls and deep pools below. And while it was a very typical rainy winter afternoon during my visit, I quite appreciated the winter beauty of the scenery around me. Of course, crossing the suspension bridge is an experience in itself, particularly when it bounces up and down and sways side to side every step you make.
Our next stop was the beautiful quaint village of Deep Cove with scenic waterfront views of the Indian Arm.
I wanted to check off my YVR foodie bucket list by having a doughnuts from Honey’s Doughnuts. Warm, soft, sticky and highly addictive, these doughnuts did not disappoint.
Thank you to Ford Canada, Robin Esrock and Talk Shop Media for helping me check off some YVR bucket list items. Be sure to check out Robin’s new book, The Great Global Bucket List, for inspiration. What’s on your bucket list? Feel free to share in the comments below.
