Vonns is a popular Vancouver (BC Canada) eatery in English Bay serving fresh, made-to-order handhelds including smash burgers, cheesesteaks, chicken burgers and more.
On the menu are shareables (like birria tacos and chicken tenders); smash burgers (featuring locally sourced grain-fed beef, ground in-house); cheesesteaks; chicken burgers; and sides (like truffle fries and Garden salad). The brioche buns that they use are fresh, made in-house daily. All the meat they use is certified halal, kosher and they offer gluten-free options as well.
They also offer an expedited, focused menu during busy nights and special occasions like fireworks night.
We were hosted at Vonns and enjoyed a tasting of some of their popular dishes:
Birria Tacos
2 corn flour tortillas; fall-off-the-bone slow cooked beef; cheese; onion; cilantro; side of consommé and sour cream
Vonns Special Cheesesteak
Ribeye, provolone, sautéed onion, tomato, serrano, garlic aioli
Classic Smash Burger
Smash patty, American cheese, onion, pickle, tomato, secret sauce
Chicken Nash
Double-stacked golden breaded breast, magic Nash dust, slow, pickle, secret sauce
Truffle Fries
Potato scoops, truffle, parmesan
The meats were tender, flavouful and presented in very, good portion. The burger patties and chicken breast were thick. The fresh, daily made-in-house brioche bun was nice. The truffle fries are certainly addictive! The Chicken Nash had a perfect cheese skirt as well. The dishes were well-made, very filling and satisfying!
Vonns has a charming interior dining room as well as an outdoor patio if would like to feel the ocean breeze during your meal. You’ll notice some London-inspired decor as they have sister restaurant in London.
