Trattoria by Italian Kitchen, Burnaby Menu Highlights

The reimagined Trattoria by Italian Kitchen is now open in Burnaby at 102-4501 Kingsway. Trattoria’s menu showcases unique tableside touches and authentic Italian antipasti, insalati, house-made fresh pastas dishes, forno-baked pizza and desserts.

Here are some of highlights from the menu. I recommend them all because they were all so delicious!

The Tableside Prosciutto Di Parma delivers on both presentation and flavour. The prosciutto, thinly sliced at tableside paired wonderfully with the vibrant marinated vegetables and roasted tomatoes. The peperonata adds a sweet and tangy layer, offering a contrast to the savoury prosciutto. The forno bread, served alongside, has just the right amount of crunch to complement the dish.

The Nodi Marini Fra Diavolo was a bold and spicy pasta featuring a blend of scallops, prawns, and peperoncino. The garlic, tomatoes, and capers offered a lively balance, while the olive oil and aglio e olio sauce tied everything together.

The Tagliatelle Ghiottone brought a hearty combination of minced chicken, cream, and brandy, finished with a generous topping of parmigiano reggiano.

The Panzanella salad featured a blend of arugula, crisp cucumber, and juicy red grapes topped with a generous ball of burrata, adding a creamy contrast to the fresh ingredients. The crunch from the focaccia croutons and the tang from the red wine vinaigrette completed this dish.

A simple but satisfying side, the Yukon gold potatoes and olive oil were enhanced by the aromatic rosemary and citrusy lemon.

The Braised Lamb Shank was a standout main, slow-cooked to tender perfection and served over a bed of creamy soft polenta. The accompanying broccolini added a slight bitterness that cut through the richness of the dish, while the gremolata and lamb jus enhanced the flavours with a bright and zesty finish.

We ended our meal on a sweet note with the Signature Tableside Tiramisu. This dessert featured layers of mascarpone mousse and espresso-soaked ladyfingers, topped with freshly grated chocolate.

The space underwent a complete floor-to-ceiling renovation prior to the relaunch to impart a more refined, elegantly appointed and upscale experience. The newly reimagined Trattoria offers an expansive yet cozy layout that features a variety of private and semi-private rooms, an 18-seat pizza bar and a lush, landscaped 65-seat heated patio that allows guests to indulge in al-fresco dining experiences whatever the weather.
