MICHELIN-recommended Hawksworth Restaurant offers a Sunday Roast Dinner featuring prime rib, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding made from the Hawksworth family recipe.

Priced at $49 per person, the plate includes dry-aged organic Bradner Farms prime rib, potatoes roasted in tallow with chives, butter-sautéed seasonal vegetables, Yorkshire pudding and au jus.

The dry-aged beef was juicy and flavourful, and the tallow-roasted potatoes had a rich beef flavour too.

I enjoyed soaking the airy Yorkshire pudding in the au jus. That combination was one of my favourite parts of the dinner.

For a red wine pairing, there is the 2020 Phantom Creek Petit Cuvée Cabernet Blend from the Okanagan Valley.

The appeal for me is having the prime rib and all the traditional accompaniments on one plate. It makes Hawksworth a great option for a Sunday dinner without committing to several courses. Drinks and dessert are separate.

We also had the Thai Lemonade, with tart lime followed by some spice from the ginger beer. The Strawberry Spritz was fruitier, with cardamom, lemon and soda water.

We finished with two desserts, both flambéed tableside. The Crêpes Suzette came with lemon curd, preserved BC cherries and Grand Marnier sauce. I enjoyed the caramel flavour of the burnt sugar ice cream with the fruit.

The Baked Alaska was more tropical, with coconut cake, vanilla ice cream, pineapple sorbet and passion fruit ice cream. It was cooling and refreshing after the roast dinner.
