Newly opened in the space formerly occupied by iCafe at 2525 Heather St in Vancouver is Song Cafe.

The restaurant doesn’t seem to be affiliated with iCafe and has a different owner. The interior has also been renovated for a more contemporary look.

The menu is more or less the same as what was offered at i-Cafe. These include House Special Noodle; Steaks & Seafood; Braised Noodles & Rice; Curries; Baked Rice & Spaghettis; Salads; Appetizers and more.

We visited them for lunch on their second day of opening and here is my honest review:

First was the Crispy Salt & Pepper Fried Squid ($15.95) which was very good. The coating was crispy while the squid was tender. Garlicky, peppery and aromatic – I would recommend it.

Curry Beef Brisket ($22.95) which was creamy, delicious, a bit on the sweeter side but still good. The only thing was that one of the beef chunks was burnt. We let the staff know.

We also had the Hainanese Chicken in Rice Noodle Soup. They actually forgot about this order so the dish came a bit later.

These dishes came as combos with a hot drink so we had HK milk tea. While the menu says that a soup comes with the combos, the staff said that it was an error to be corrected soon. They gave us the soup anyway which was a corn and ham cream soup.

They have some kinks to work out which is understandable but otherwise the experience was OK.
Our bill was $63 plus tip. I would give them a try again in the future.
