Shaker + Spear is a seafood-centric eatery in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood with a focus on Pacific Northwest ingredients.
Located inside the Kimpton Palladian Hotel, It’s a popular spot of visitors seeking a respite from a busy day of shopping at nearby Pike Place Market or walking along the Puget Sound.
The restaurant’s interior is beautifully designed, with an open kitchen that allows diners to watch the chefs at work.
The decor is modern and stylish, with touches of warm wood, bold brass accents and backlit bottles that add warmth and sophistication to the space.
The seating is comfortable with a mix of leather banquettes and dining tables.
We enjoyed the ambiance which was inviting with a lively buzz that made for a great dining experience.
The menu is designed to showcase the bounties of the Pacific Northwest and is seasonal. Starters range from fresh oysters to more adventurous options like Charred Octopus and Surf + Turf Tartare.
Large plates features options like Pan Seared Steelhead; Penn Cove Mussels; Whole Fried Sea Bream and more. For those opting for a non-seafood entrée, they have Double R Ranch NY Steak, King Cole Duck Breas and so forth.
They have a stellar wine list as recognized with an Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator. The restaurant offers a wide selection of local and international wines, with a focus on Pacific Northwest wineries.
We visited Shaker + Spear for dinner and tried the following:
Parker House Rolls, Garlic Fermented Honey + Compound Butter. Soft buttery rolls served with a unique garlic, honey, butter spread.
Hood Canal Oysters, Red Wine Mignonette + Lemon.
Hood Canal Manila Clams, Pork, Sake + Miso Broth, Sourdough.
Scallops, Apple Turnip Puree, Pickled Shimeji Mushrooms, Bacon + Huckleberry Gastrique. Perfectly cooked scallops that were tender, sweet and buttery.
Double R Ranch Smash Burger, Seafair Pickles, Onions, American Cheese, Shaker Sauce, Fries. A solid cheeseburger with a juicy, flavorful patty.
Huckle Mess – Huckleberry Compote, Prickly Pear Sorbet, Meringues, Whip Cream. A messy but tasty dessert.
Chevre Cheesecake – Hazelnut Graham Crust, Cranberry-Blood Orange Compote. A light and refreshing smooth cheesecake with a nutty, graham crust and fruity compote.
Paper Jam – botanist gin, American blanco, giffard peche, lemon
