RH San Francisco is a stunning, five-story, first-of-its kind design and dining destination that is worthy of checking out.
RH is the upscale home goods brand formerly known as Restoration Hardware that offers chic, timeless furniture, textiles, lighting and more.
In 2022, they took over the historic Bethlehem Steel Building, a 1917 neoclassical structure on Pier 70 that has been meticulously restored and reimagined.
What you will find at RH San Francisco is a 80,000-square-foot design gallery with a restaurant that blurs the lines between residential and retail, indoors and outdoors, home and hospitality.
The Galleries
The experience starts as you enter the building through handcrafted iron gates adorned with elaborate scrollwork and gilded acanthus leaves.
Inside you’ll find countless showrooms displaying the brand’s most luxurious and upscale home furnishings from a variety of RH collections, including RH Contemporary, RH Interiors, RH Modern and RH Outdoor.
I really enjoyed browsing through all the various galleries; it felt like a fashionable furniture museum. You might even feel inspired by the home décor or interior design. By the way, all the furniture is available for purchase.
The Rooftop
One of the highlights of the space is the rooftop garden. Feel free to order a glass of wine or drink from the restaurant and head upstairs to the immersive rooftop. There you can enjoy panoramic views of San Francisco and the Downtown skyline. The space is outfitted with products from RH Outdoor.
The Palm Court Restaurant
The signature restaurant at RH San Francisco is The Palm Court. The restaurant is stunning and features an interior design that pays homage to the glamour of San Francisco’s Gilded Age.
Highlights of the space include a dramatic atrium, Italian Calacatta gold marble, a cascading center fountain, towering Medjool date palms and glimmering chandeliers.
The restaurant concept is live wood-fire dining prepared from a monolithic marble cooking hearth flanked by custom Molteni rotisseries from France. Wood grilling imbues every entrée with bright, intense flavor.
The menu kicks off with several caviar and appetizers options including the signature wood-grilled avocado topped with 10 grams of Petrossian Imperial Kaluga Caviar and crème fraiche.
For those seeking lighter options, The Palm Court Restaurant presents a timeless 1950s-style Caesar salad and the ever-popular Rotisserie Chicken salad. The menu also boasts a variety of sandwiches including the Wagyu ribeye sandwich and the hearth burger with Monterey jack cheese.
Moving on to the main courses, diners can savor a thinly sliced Wagyu ribeye; freshly carved rotisserie chicken; and a whole Branzino.
Delectable sides include wood-grilled corn on the cob; truffle fries; and coal-roasted sweet potatoes.
Not to be missed are the two luminous wine bars that offers drinks, exceptional wines and Champagnes from around the world.
For my lunch experience, I had the following:
Grilled Avocado with Caviar featuring 10 g of Imperial Kaluga Caviar by Petrossian and a dollop of Crème Fraîche. I liked the contrast of the salty, briny caviar with the buttery avocado. This was $42 and OK to try once but I wouldn’t order it again.
You definitely have to try one of their wood-fired specialties so I went with the Rotisserie Chicken Salad featuring Organic Jidori Chicken, Butter Lettuce, Olive Oil, Lemon, and Chives. It was really delicious, tender, moist and flavorful.
The Hearth Burger came with a slab of Monterey Jack, Caramelized Onion, Aioli in a Charred Ciabatta bun was OK.
I enjoyed the Wood Grilled Cob of Corn with charred butter, salt and herbs.
When I dined there, I did a lot of people watching because there was simply a lot of beautiful and stylish people dining there with their designer wear and luxury handbags. I couldn’t help but notice the lady at the next table in her trendy Chanel shoes.
The food was good but definitely a bit pricey for what you get. You’ll have to account for the premium for dining in a trendy restaurant.
