Remix Restaurant & Bar is a trendy eatery in Richmond BC offering Chinese dishes in a unique immersive setting.
The spacious restaurant features soaring ceilings and projection content onto LED screens that go with dance music from artists such as Jackson Wang, Black Pink and so forth.
The restaurant which has been around for about 3 years and started out with an Asian fusion type of menu (hence the name, “Remix”).
However, they recently changed their menu to offer more authentic Chinese dishes for a bar-like setting and which would pair well with their unique cocktails and drinks menu.
You’ll find Hot Pot dishes (like Spicy Duck Pot, Signature Chicken Pot and Spicy Seafood pot); Rice dishes (like Rice in Prawn Bisque and Pork Fried Rice); Skewers (like Beef Wrapped Cilantro, Prawn Skewer and Ham Skewer); Snacks (like Spicy Lamb Neck and Aburi Corn) and so forth.
Their drinks menu includes large, shareable drinks like the Lychee Waxberry Punch and Fruit Tea Punch to spirit-free choices like the Mango Slush and Fresh Coconut slush.
We were invited to a media tasting and enjoyed the following:
Signature chicken pot
Pickled plum cherry tomato
Shrimp paste stuffed pepper & Angus beef skewers
Beef wrapped cilantro
Pork wrapped sauerkraut
Cabbage skewers
Condiments set with wraps, sesame chili mix and onions
Osmanthus Rice Wine
Mango slush with a Coconut Melona Bar
Rose Lychee Soda
The Signature Chicken Pot was Dong Bei (North Eastern China) style and it was a bit more salty and oily but still hearty, delicious. Their mild was closer to a medium for Chinese spicy. It’s priced at $35 for 2 and it had a lot of ingredients in it. So, we thought it was a good value dish!
The skewers were nicely seasoned and great smoky flavour. You can also eat them in a DIY Shandong- style wrap where you place the grilled meats and/or vegetables wrap and add the sesame chilil mix and onions to your liking.
The Osmanthus Rice Wine was a lovely floral drink while the Mango Slush had smooth texture with a nice mango flavour and a coconut Melona bar. The Rose Lychee was also good and had popping Lychee pears. All the drinks helped to cool down from the spiciness of the Hot Pot.
The restaurant is opened for lunch, dinner and in between. If you come at night, the projections will definitely look cooler!
Be sure to check out the outside of their washroom area which makes for a cool place to take some selfies!
Overall, we enjoyed the flavours of the food at Remix and the prices were reasonable for portions and quality.
