Like all of Popbar’s products, the popWich is made with all natural ingredients. That means hormone-free milk, real fruit, no preservatives and no artificial flavours.
How it works is you first choose a pop (gelato or sorbetto), then make it a popWich by adding two crunchy double chocolate cookies. Choose your dip, topping(s) and drizzle to make it your own. When all “done up,” a popWich would be around $6.25.
Here is a behind-the-scene look at how the popWich is made:
One popWich that I tried was the matcha popGelato with white chocolate dip, coconut shavings and hazlenut drizzle. I also had a dulce de leche with a white chocolate cross-hatch drizzle and pistachio toppings on the side. The major appeal of the popWich is that the cookies are super crunchy compared to soft (sometimes soggy) ice cream sandwich cookies. These cookies have also got a really delicious chocolate flavour. The coconut shavings and pistachio gave the treat some extra crunch as well. The flavours of matcha and dulce de leche were on point. In particular, the matcha did not disappoint and had a satisfying flavour.
Overall Impression
I found the popWich to be a very satisfying treat with fun textures and great flavour. Those crunchy double chocolate cookies are addictive! I’d have to say that I would pay extra on top of the regular popGelato to have the popWich. Rating: 4/5
