Beloved bottled cocktail purveyor Please! Beverage Co. is assembling an anniversary bash that’ll be a Marvel to behold when it welcomes brand ambassador and How I Met Your Mother and Avengers star Cobie Smulders to its first anniversary party at its tasting house in Mount Pleasant at 222 W 5thAvenue on Thursday, August 8.
Smulders, a Vancouver native known for roles in the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother and various TV shows and movies set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will be on hand from 6 to 11 p.m. on Thursday, August 8 to greet fans and sign autographs at the party, and will make another appearance at a Please! pop-up tasting at Olympic Village’s Legacy Liquor Store (1633 Manitoba Street) on Friday, August 9 from 4 to 7 p.m.
Smulders, who was born in Vancouver and raised in White Rock and Point Grey, broke into the big time when she was cast as Robin Sherbatsky in the smash hit and Emmy Award winning sitcom How I Met Your Mother, which ran on CBS from 2005 to 2014. She further bolstered her resume with multiple appearances as S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill alongside Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury in a number of Marvel TV shows and movies from 2012 through 2023, including Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Endgame (2019) and Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019).
Launched in 2022 by entrepreneurs Noel Steen and Zach Whitman, Please! celebrates cocktail culture and a ‘globally inspired, locally imbibed’ philosophy by pouring heart, passion and imagination into a collection of premium crafted small-batch potions made in house. Each signature libation is built on recipes comprising equal parts seasonality, spontaneity, premium spirits and thoughtfully sourced ingredients like fresh-squeezed mixers, house-made tinctures and locally grown herbs and botanicals.
The latest collection of Please! cocktails is available in bottled form in 355- and 750-mL singles and four packs and cases of 24 and features:
- Mango, Coconut & Pandan (6.9%): Rich, delicious and reminiscent of mango sticky rice;
- Raspberry, Juniper & Mint (6.9%): Bold, herbaceous burst of ripe raspberry and mint;
- Passionfruit, Ginger & Calamansi (6.9%): Refreshing and balanced taste of the tropics;
- Grapefruit Paloma (6.9%): Tequila-forward showcase of bright grapefruit and lime;
- Rhubarb Fizz (4.5%): Collision of British rhubarb, custard candy and a herbal finish;
- Green Tea Fizz (3.9%): Elegantly aromatic with notes of osmanthus, lemon and mint.
Also new to the Please! lineup in time for its second anniversary is a mixed pack of six 355-mL canned cocktails that includes two each of its Raspberry, Juniper & Mint, Passionfruit, Ginger & Calamansi and Mango, Coconut & Pandan varieties in a convenient boxed format that’s easy to take along to backyard barbecues, beachside parties or just enjoy at home.

Beverage Co. is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 3 to 11 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 8 p.m. with Happy Hours from 3 to 6 p.m. and 10-11 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, 10-11 p.m. Saturdays and all-day on Sundays.
