Homer St Cafe and Bar is a contemporary restaurant set in the historic Homer Building and new Beasley building in Vancouver’s Yaletown neighbourhood. They were also recommended in the MICHELIN guide for Vancouver in 2022.
Classic comfort cooking is what they’re known for where the star of the show is their rotisserie chicken which is brined in their signature sauce overnight to create a tender, flavourful meat.
The restaurant features multiple spaces: an open concept kitchen with bar seating; a separate dining with reclaimed factory windows, and bespoke seating complemented by antique tiling; as well as an inviting outdoor patio.

We went in and tried their Happy Hour which is offered every day from 2:30 pm – 5:30 pm. I thought that the menu presented a great variety of items for different appetites. You can stick to some simpler items like fresh shucked oysters and house fries with aioli; get a charcuterie board to share; or get a larger plate like their signature burger or steak tartare if you’re more hungry. It’s a pretty well-rounded Happy Hour menu in my opinion.

Here is what we tried:
Chicken Wings $12
with salt & pepper, buttermilk ranch

Steak Tartare $16
with smoked crème fraîche, farm house clothbound cheddar, tater tots

Spicy Pork Jowl $15
with chili sauce, cucumber, crispy shallots, cilantro

HSCB Burger $17
featuring cheese, bacon, burger sauce, shredded lettuce, pickle, onion, fries

Espresso Martini $15
Absolut, Kahlua, espresso

The dishes were all delicious and well-executed. The steak tartare was rich, tender and beefy with the tater tots being a nice accompaniment. The HSCB Burger was a nice, substantial item which would satisfy your hunger at Happy Hour. The chicken wings were perfect being crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. The spicy pork jowl seemed be more of a unique offering and was nicely chewy and spicy. The espresso martini was pretty good too.
Service was reasonable and the experience overall was enjoyable. I would recommend their Happy Hour.
Homer St Cafe is located at 898 Homer St, Vancouver, BC.
