Grocery savings app FoodHero expands across Canada

FoodHero works with local grocers to rescue surplus food, produce not “pretty enough” for shelves, prepared meals that need to sell quickly and more, bringing these products to consumers at a lower cost through its app.

Users of the app can access markdowns of 50% on grocery items at stores such as Sobeys, Safeway, Foodland, IGA.

Previously only available in Quebec, the FoodHero app has already seen over one million downloads in its home province. Since 2019, the company estimates that it has helped divert more than 25 million pounds of food away from landfills while offering users the chance to save upwards of $5,000 each year.

Users can search for available grocery products near them via the FoodHero app or the FoodHero website.
