“Goth” Target is a unique Target store in Chicago that went social media viral for its dark and intricate exterior.

Located at the intersection of State and Madison streets in Downtown Chicago, this particular Target store finds its home within the historic Carson, Pirie, Scott and Company building, originally constructed in 1899.

Since 1975, it has held the prestigious status of a registered Chicago Landmark. The building is also now known as The Sullivan Center.

The building’s dark, somewhat eerie aesthetic, highlighted by its dark ornate metal facade (technically belonging to the art nouveau design style, not gothic), is what lends it its mysteriousness.

Adding to that is Target’s red bullseye logo, “radiating” from a curved window on the second floor, reminiscent of The Eye of Sauron from Lord of the Rings.

Inside is a regular Target but you’ll find some “goth” elements like the interior’s striking columns, and intricate entryway.
The second floor is where you will find more information on the history of the building and great views into the streets.
