Federales is the newest addition to Logan Square’s vibrant restaurant and bar scene – a lofty, open-air bar and restaurant mixing tacos, taquitos, tequila, and cocktails with an energetic atmosphere under a retractable roof, allowing the sun to shine any time of year.
With the success of the original location in Fulton Market (opened in 2016), Federales expanded into new markets including Denver (2021) and Dallas (2022), bringing their Chicago-inspired vibe to cities that resemble Chicago with high volumes of young professionals and vibrant entertainment districts.
Now Federales is opening the fourth location in the heart of Logan Square at 2471 N Milwaukee Ave, bringing the homegrown concept back to Chicago where it all began.
The program runs from 6:30 – 8:30 pm on the first Friday of every month as artists from a diverse roster of styles and mediums create artwork live onsite, free for guests who are encouraged to stop in, watch the performance, purchase artwork if they like and above all enjoy the community spirit.
The menus at Federales Logan Square spotlight margaritas – both frozen and classic – including a spicy watermelon version and a frozen tequila rosé, alongside a robust list of craft cocktails, many tequila based and all with twists.
To complement the beverage offerings, Federales offers house-made tortillas, taquitos, guacamole, and more, but the real stars of the show are the signature tacos including the lamb quesabirria with duck mole (available on Wednesdays and Sundays only), wood-grilled shrimp with mango, crispy potato, and pork and pineapple, among others.
The design is modern industrial with 8,500 square feet inside, 2790 square feet outside, with the retractable roof serving to create an indoor/outdoor urban oasis.
As a supporter of the arts and local artists’ community, Federales is launching a First Friday Live Art Series; starting 10/6 with Bryn Gleason followed by Hink and Tristan Young.
The signature and iconic Federales murals inside and outside were created by Jason Botkin in collaboration local artists Erik Lundquist and David Alvarado.
