Lona Tampa, the second Florida location for the popular Mexican restaurant helmed by chefs Richard Sandoval and Pablo Salas, has created a visually inspiring and authentic dining experience for guests of the recently launched space at the elegant Tampa Marriott Water Street (505 Water Street). Blending traditional Mexican aesthetics with modern sophistication by utilizing a captivating color palette of warm earth tones and textured details, the expansive indoor and outdoor dining areas beckon guests to embark on a culinary journey that extends beyond the plate. Each aspect of the interior design was carefully conceptualized to showcase the spirit of Mexico while providing an atmosphere of comfort and distinction. From meticulously crafted details including thoughtfully curated artwork and murals, Lona promises an immersive dining experience that transports guests to the heart of Mexico’s rich cultural tapestry.

The teams at Lona and Tampa Marriott Water Street tapped longtime Sandoval collaborator Bart DeLorenzo of DeLorenzo Productions to develop the interior design, boasting an array of custom-designed furniture pieces and intricate décor that pay homage to Mexico’s storied craftsmanship. An entrance with wall murals showcasing agave plants and other regional relics makes way for a sweeping dining room decorated with hand-carved wooden chairs, dramatic chandeliers, and vibrant upholstery that reflect the country’s artisanal heritage.

An integral part of the design programming is the restaurant’s mural package comprised of a series of commissioned murals decorating the walls of the restaurant.
Lona’s outdoor space is equally mesmerizing, with lush bougainvillea, carefully chosen potted plants, and hanging greenery that enhance the restaurant’s atmosphere. From pottery to hand-blown glassware, every dining element at Lona showcases Mexico’s artistic traditions. Guests can expect to dine using crafted ceramics and glassware that elevate the overall dining experience.
