Eataly, the Italian marketplace with nearly 50 global locations, has opened its doors at CF Sherway Gardens.
The second location in Toronto features two restaurants, five counters, a mozzarella lab as well a wide selection of housemade, Italian and Canadian products.
Eataly also announced it will open a third Canadian location in 2024 at CF Shops at Don Mills.
Eataly has continued its partnership in Canada with Wittington Investments as part of this expansion.
The newest location follows the November 2019 opening of Eataly Yorkville, a flagship store at the corner of Bay and Bloor Streets.
Eataly Sherway Gardens is located in the southeast corridor of the mall and spans 25,000 square feet.
Restaurants
The Sherway Gardens location is home to two restaurants, including the first Canadian outpost of Il Pastaio.
The fresh pasta concept started at Eataly Flatiron in New York, with an open production space that allows guests to feast their eyes on pasta being made by hand by Eataly pastai – or pastamakers.
La Pizza e La Pasta is another restaurant that is Eataly’s signature experience, with the same concept found in all Eataly locations in North America including Eataly Yorkville.
At La Pizza e La Pasta, guests can choose from a selection of fresh and dry pasta, or watch as the pizzaioli – pizzamakers – make Neapolitan-style pizzas made-to-order in the 900ºF wood-fired ovens.
Market
Recipes can be recreated at home by shopping the marketplace, featuring thousands of Italian and Canadian products including more than 100 types of extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar of Modena, as well as more than 200 artisanal pasta di Gragnano, tomato sauce, and a selection of sweets.
Fresh mozzarella and fresh pasta will be made onsite, and a selection of more than 500 cheeses and cured meats will anchor a central island in the market.
The Made in Eataly line of products will offer ready-to-eat, ready-to-heat and ready-to-cook products, from housemade sauces to prepared salads and family-size pasta dishes.
Eataly Sherway Gardens will also offer Eataly’s first-ever global panettone selection, which will debut in stores by mid-November.
A wine selection will perfectly complement the experience, with a Vino-To-Go section featuring hundreds of labels of Italian wine from all 20 regions, including favourites like Toscana and Piemonte, available for purchase along with food items.
Counters
Guests on the go will have a choice of several quick-service counters with open seating:
- Il Gelato Artigianale, with more than a dozen flavours of fresh gelato made with local milk
- La Pasticceria, the pastry counter with a view into the onsite production kitchen, with cakes, croissants, and more baked fresh daily
- Il Gran Caffè, an all-day coffee bar
- La Panetteria & Pizza alla Pala, a joint counter offering a variety of bread baked in house, as well as panini and Roman-style pizza alla pala
