In search of healthy and lunch fare in Santa Monica, I stumbled upon Cafe Lovi which just opened up about five months ago.
They are a bright, laid-back and minimalist coffee shop serving house-made challah sandwiches alongside Italian espresso.
On the menu are pastries (like croissants, vegan croissants, brownie bites and so forth); sweet (like Tiramisu and bombolone); signature challah sandwiches (like pastrami, tuna salad, vegan garden crunch and more); and salads (like Caprese, tuna, roast beef and so forth).
We got their Roast Beef and Turkey and Avocado Sandwich featuring their signature toasted challah bread. I love their housemade challah bread which they bake on site. The bread was which was pillowy, fluffy, sweet (but not too much) and was really delicious.
The sandwiches came with a beautiful, crisp green salad and we washed it down with some housemade ice tea and lemonade.
The owner was really nice. She had just received a large order before mine and offered me a biscotti because of the long wait. What a nice gesture!
