Bell Heir’s BBQ is a takeout-focused barbecue and comfort food eatery that opened up in the early part of 2023 in Chicago’s southside.

Chef-owner Tyris Bell helped start the acclaimed Luella’s Southern Kitchen with his brother Chef Darnell Reed, and served as its general manager for eight years.

On the menu at Bell Heir’s BBQ are Rib Tip Dinner; Smoked BBQ Turkey Leg; Fried Catfish; Chicken Wings; Brisket Mac N’ Cheese; Nachos; Brisket Burger and more. They also offer pizza in options like Brisket; Pepperoni; Sausage and Cheese.

Their signature dish is a Rib Tip Dinner featuring a large order of smoked rib tips served wet.

We tried the very unique BBQ Brisket Cheeseburger featuring the best of both brisket and burger worlds. The cheeseburger had two 4oz Slagel Farms ground beef patties topped with BBQ brisket, cheese and fried pickles, and served with fries.



Next up was the BBQ Brisket Mac ‘n Cheese which had a hefty portion of gooey baked mac ‘n cheese smothered with savory BBQ Brisket and bacon.

As a takeout-focused restaurant, limited seating is available so Bell Heir’s BBQ encourages guests to bring the food home for a delicious family style meal.

Bell Heir’s BBQ is open Wednesday through Sunday from noon to 9 p.m. Orders can be made in person, via telephone or online. Online orders only available until 8:30 p.m. The restaurant is closed on Monday and Tuesday. Delivery is available.
