We made a visit to the Adams River to see the annual Sockeye Salmon run this year.
The salmons’ journey back from the ocean to the Adams River, their place of birth, to spawn and subsequently die is a story of determination in nature.
The Adams River is 405 km inland from the Pacific Ocean. The closest nearby cities are Kamloops and Salmon Arm.
This year is the dominant year of the salmon run where millions were expected to return.
The Adams River Salmon Society presents a festival where there are displays, food trucks and vendors. The price of admission was $10 per vehicle.
There are many hiking trails and plenty of viewing areas by the river to observe the salmon.
Here are more photos from our visit.
