They offer a variety of pizza toppings like pepperoni, Italian sausage, spicy Italian sausage, salami, meatball, chorizo, smoked ham, bacon, spicy Italian sausage, Canadian bacon, fresh chopped garlic, fresh mushrooms, sliced onion (red and yellow), bell pepper, black olive, pineapple, and so forth.

You can order from their signature flavours or build your own pie. The menu also features sub sandwiches, salads, garlic knots, and desserts imported from New York including New York Cheesecake, tiramisu and cannolis.

The restaurant has been known to have a “wall of shame,” featuring pictures of banned customers and rebuttals to bad reviews, which fits with this restaurant’s New York attitude.

When we visited this past summer, it was takeout only and no seating inside.

Their slices are around $5 – 7. We got a few slices including Cheese; Pepperoni; and Slice of the Day which was sausage, red onion and bell pepper. The bottom was nice and crispy while the tomato sauce was well-balanced and it had the right amount of mozza on top.

Not only does A Slice of New York serve great pizza, but they also treat their employees well as they offer a worker cooperative.

Employee participation in the co-op is optional, but those who opt-in can help the owners make decisions about the budget, company direction, business strategy, and workplace governance.

There was an 8% surcharge on the order to support the staff.

This restaurant has aimed to create an NYC experience in the Bay, and that’s exactly what they have accomplished.

Aside from their San Jose location, they also have a shop in Sunnyvale.

Overall, we really loved the pizza from A Slice of New York and would recommend it.
