I attended the ISU Short Track World Tour at Vancouver’s Pacific Coliseum and joined a behind the scenes tour for a closer look at what goes into hosting an international skating competition.

We saw the athletes preparing before their races, the judges and coaches at work, and the broadcasting area where the competition is brought to viewers.

The two day event brings together the world’s fastest short track speed skaters, racing for first place and points towards the Crystal Globe, the series’ overall prize.

Short track speed skating has athletes racing against each other on a compact ice track, with tight turns, quick passes and split second decisions. Seeing how they choose their moment to pass made the races even more interesting to watch.

I enjoyed watching the competition and getting a look at the preparation and coordination behind it.
