AnnaLena has become Vancouver’s first restaurant to receive Two MICHELIN Stars in the 2026 MICHELIN Guide selection. This year’s announcement includes two new Bib Gourmands, four new Recommended restaurants and four special awards recognising hospitality professionals.

The full selection includes 72 restaurants representing 23 cuisine types. Vancouver now has one Two Star restaurant, 10 One Star restaurants, 16 Bib Gourmands and 45 Recommended restaurants.
Chef Michael Robbins leads AnnaLena’s contemporary tasting menu, which draws on seasonal ingredients and international influences. Inspectors recognised the kitchen’s precise technique and the quality of their ingredients, together with the restaurant’s service, cocktails and wine program.

The inspection notes describe Sungold tomatoes with house-made XO sauce, caramelised buttermilk and Thai green curry, and fresh pasta with charcoal-roasted asparagus and sauce vin blanc poured tableside. The restaurant combines this cooking with an informal dining room atmosphere.
Chef’s Choice Seafood Restaurant has been promoted to Bib Gourmand, and Kavita joins the selection with the same distinction. Bib Gourmand recognises restaurants offering good food at moderate prices. The two additions bring Vancouver’s total to 16.
Jay Nok, Jeju, Niwa and Peya join the Recommended category for the first time. The category includes 45 restaurants across the city.
The special awards recognise work in cocktails, wine, service and culinary leadership. Chris Enns of Peya receives the MICHELIN Exceptional Cocktails Award. Mark Taylor of Bacchus receives the MICHELIN Sommelier Award.
Yash Shah of Kavita receives the MICHELIN Outstanding Service Award. Vish Mayekar of Elem receives the MICHELIN Young Chef / Culinary Professional Award.
The announcement introduces Mindful Voices, an editorial platform where chefs, hoteliers and winemakers can share their practices and experiences.
MICHELIN inspectors assess restaurants using five criteria, product quality, mastery of cooking techniques, harmony of flavours, the chef’s personality expressed through the cuisine, and consistency across the menu and over time. Inspectors visit anonymously and pay their bills in full.
The complete selection is available through the MICHELIN Guide Vancouver directory.
