I visited Le Clan in Old Québec for their weekend brunch, a generous set menu focusing on Québec ingredients, wild game, house-made charcuterie and seasonal produce.

Catalan chef Stéphane Modat runs the restaurant from a historic house in Old Québec. A glass-fronted kitchen occupies the ground floor, with dining rooms upstairs decorated with hunting and fishing trophies that reflect the chef’s personal interests.
The restaurant is open for lunch, weekend brunch and dinner. We visited for the $39 brunch, which arrived as a succession of breads, charcuterie, savoury plates and desserts rather than a single entrée.
We started with scones and toast made from Borderon sea-water bread, served with herb butter and wild berry jelly.
The opening spread continued with Beaurivage charcuterie; venison rillettes; tomato salad with balsamic vinaigrette and traditional pork cretons.
The heartier portion of brunch featured a stuffed cucumber; wild game sausage and Gabrielle potatoes cooked in duck fat. The potatoes were rich and crisp around the edges, bringing a familiar and comforting element to the meal.
A poached egg was served with Parmesan gnocchi and zaalouk, combining soft textures with savoury cheese and seasoned eggplant and tomato. The porcini mushroom waffle arrived with Mornay sauce, pairing earthy mushrooms with a crisp waffle and creamy cheese sauce.
Dessert included a seasonal sweet made with sweet clover and strawberry; pumpkin choux with chocolate and sea buckthorn, and coffee flan. The final courses moved through fruit, chocolate, coffee and subtle herbal notes without feeling too heavy.
Overall, it was a unique and delicious brunch spread that offered a taste of Québec through seasonal ingredients, wild game and regional flavours.
