Elephant & Castle Pub and Restaurant (Elephant & Castle), the renowned British-inspired pub chain, has officially announced it will be opening a Calgary location at 1503 4th Street SW, the historic site of the former Rose & Crown pub. As the popular pub makes its return to Calgary at the end of summer 2024, it brings with it a rich tradition of British pub culture and a vibrant love for soccer, encouraging Calgarians to “Get Your Brit On”.

Elephant & Castle will be located just off 17th Avenue Southwest and close to Calgary’s new Culture + Entertainment District, including the planned sports event centre. The prime area positions the pub as an inviting atmosphere for casual dining during the day and a bustling nightlife venue after dark, ideal for all soccer fans.
Elephant & Castle is dedicated to delivering a classic British pub experience, featuring a wide selection of local and import beers and traditional British pub fare. Designed to appeal to a broad audience, the pub will broadcast a variety of international sports events, including top-tier soccer matches from the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and the Canadian Premier League. Elephant & Castle is committed to highlighting women’s soccer and plans to air games from the new Canadian women’s league, the Northern Super League.
“We are thrilled to introduce Elephant & Castle to this historic inner-city space, offering a unique blend of British culture and modern offerings,” says Marla Tice, Elephant & Castle Brand Leader. “Our goal is to create a space where everyone can enjoy the culture and charm of a traditional British pub in the heart of Calgary.”
In its new location, Elephant & Castle is committed to preserving the architectural integrity and historical significance of the former Rose & Crown building. This landmark site has long been a cornerstone of the Calgary architectural and social landscape. The location will retain the distinctive features that characterize the original structure while introducing Elephant & Castle’s unique features and style.
“We recognize the significance of this building and its history, that’s why we’ve designed our new Calgary location with this history and community in mind, blending the historical value of the building with the inviting atmosphere of a British pub. Our team is committed to delivering exceptional service and a memorable experience for all our guests,” adds Tice.
The opening of Elephant & Castle is anticipated to complement the vibrant nightlife of Calgary’s Beltline area and attract local residents and tourists alike.
