Akira Sushi on Denman Street in Downtown Vancouver is a Chef-owned and operated sushi eatery that has been around for over 20 years.

Chef Sean’s culinary career spans over 30 years and he spent 20 years at the luxury Hotel New Otani in Osaka where he focused on Kaiseki cuisine.

For the month of January, Akira is offering 15% off dine-in or takeout.

Here are some items to try at Akira Sushi.
First up is the assorted smoky, melt-in-your mouth Aburi Sushi platter featuring salmon oshi, hamachi, toro, and more.

A comforting item they are offering this month is the Matsutake Real Crab Meat Congee which comes as a steaming pot of soup and ingredients which you cook at your table. Great way to warm up for those colder and rainier days of the season.

The Albacore Tuna Tataki Mango Salsa is a tangy and refreshing starter which we enjoyed.

The Chicken Karaage Don Set Meal had a really delicious, juicy and meaty chicken pieces. It also came with tamago and Santa Claus Melon from Brazil.

For drinks, we tried Asahi Super Dry, a top-selling non-alcoholic beer in Japan as well as zero-proof berry and lychee mojitos.

Akira also recently underwent renovation so you’ll find some refreshed and unique artwork adorning the walls.

I really enjoyed the high quality of the items we tried which are offered at reasonable prices. I definitely recommend giving them a try!
Other items on the menu include sashimi platters; tempura; rolled sushi; yakiudon; ramen and more.

Akira Sushi is located at 1069 Denman St, Vancouver, BC.
