With September 15 marking the start of Hispanic Heritage Month, here are some restaurants rooted in Hispanic culture and cuisine that South Florida diners can enjoy.

Elcielo at SLS South Beach

From September 15th to October 15th, guests are invited to enjoy a culinary narrative that magically transports you to the beautiful beaches of Cartagena and the mysterious corners of the Amazon jungle at Elcielo located at SLS South Beach.

Miami Restaurants to try during Hispanic Hertitage Month

A culinary concept created by Colombian Chef Juan Manuel Barrientos, this restaurant features an exquisite menu showcasing one-of-a-kind flavors and textures that pay homage to Colombian cuisine. 

Among its signature dishes, guests can savor warm Truffle Buñuelos goldened with torched Foie Gras from the Hudson Valley, crispy Crab Empanadas infused with caribbean spice, craveable Guava BBQ Pork Ribs accompanied by smoked vegetable rice and pickled radishes, Lulo ceviche bathed in passion fruit milk, Roasted Quail stuffed in a mixture of guanciale and mushrooms, and the beautifully crafted Tree of Life made with cassava, cheese and basil–all creating a delectable culinary masterpiece that represents the essence of Elcielo’s innovative approach.

To end this Colombian feast, guests can delight in the country’s favorite pastry, Meregon, created with a special twist featuring star ingredient–Aguardiente.

Additionally, this Hispanic Heritage Month, Elcielo will be offering a specialty cocktail, the Chimberito, which is a fusion of aguardiente, cachaça, soursop, and yuzu.

They will also have a specialty dish, the Caviarmañola, made with crispy yucca, braised pork, and caviar. Recognized for its innovative and Colombian-inspired cuisine, Elcielo offers a tantalizing menu that is ideal to commemorate and celebrate the flavors of hispanic culture. 

Mehzcla

Mehzcla is a restaurant that aims to reflect the best of Miami and Latin American culture. Just like Miami, Mehzcla is a melting pot of Latin American cuisine. The new daily brunch menu combines exciting new latin recipes and ingredients to create savory dishes like the Miami Benedict ($21) and Mojo Pork Hash ($18). Vegans and vegetarians will love the Cauliflower Power Bowl ($18), or Tofu Perico ($14) – each brunch menu item bursting with exotic latin flavors. With four countries represented in Galley’s kitchen, including Peru, Colombia, Brazil and Puerto Rico, each chef will pay homage to their favorite dishes and region’s iconic flavors.

To celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, Cafe La Trova will shine the spotlight on four Hispanic countries that have made significant contributions to the classic cocktail world.

Each week from Sept 15 – Oct 15, Cafe La Trova’s world-famous cantineros (Cuban bartenders) will highlight one Hispanic country and two representative cocktails.

Each cocktail will be $15 and $1 from each cocktail will be donated to the American Museum of the Cuban Diaspora.

The first week will highlight Mexico with the Mezcal Paloma and Rosita; the second week will feature Perú with the Pisco Sour and Chilcano; the third week, which coincides with El Dia del Cantinero Day on October 7, will highlight Cuba with the Canchánchara and Mary Pickford; and lastly, week four will spotlight Puerto Rico with the Piña Colada and Coquito
