Kali is a 1 MICHELIN star restaurant in the Hollywood neighborhood of Los Angeles specializing in Californian cuisine. In fact, the restaurant sources only the finest ingredients from local California farms making the menu 90% organic and sustainable.

We dined on their lovely patio with overhanging lights and a casual atmosphere.

The interior has a bit more of fine dining atmosphere compared to the patio if you prefer a more intimate, and refined ambiance.

You can order a la carte or from their seasonal tasting menu.

Here is what we tried:
Wong Family Farms Tomatoes
avocado sorbet, black garlic soil, fresno chili

Delta Asparagus Spears
Béarnaise whip, almonds, pickled duck egg

California Sea Urchin Pasta
spaghetti, bread crumbs, ricotta whey

Local Cod
market vegetables, sea grass, kombu cream

East Imperial Grapefruit & Lavender Lemonade
Everything was beautifully presented, inventive, delicious and captured the essence of fresh, Californian cuisine. It was also nice to meet Chef Kevin Meehan who talked with each table.
My favourite dish was the Wong Family Farms Tomatoes which was wonderfully acidic and this was nicely contrasted with the smooth, creamy and cool avocado sorbet. What a brilliant combination. The asparagus was crunchy but tender and the Béarnaise sauce was rich and delicious. The uni harvested in California was sweet and buttery and the spaghetti was nicely al dente. The local cod was tender and buttery and the kombu cream had a tasty, umami flavour.
I liked the oceanic-inspired theme in the decor of the restaurant from the artwork on the walls to the plates that they use.

A good experience overall and I would recommend giving them.
Kali is located at 5722 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA.
