Canadian Summer Cocktails
Picture this, it’s a warm summer evening, you’re surrounded by laughter and good company and holding a perfectly chilled wine cocktail.
Hugo Spritz
Whether hosting a party or enjoying a drink with pals, they’ve got the perfect drink recipes made with some stellar wines to up the cocktail game.
If you’re looking for a drink that screams ‘summer,’ this is it. Move over Negroni Sbagliato, Hugo Spritz is the new trending drink this season and it is beautifully complimented by the Ruffino Prosecco Extra Dry.

With aromas of fresh bread, quince, Asian pear and cantaloupe and notes of quince, and honey, this viral drink will be your new ‘go-to’ for all your summer gatherings.
Ingredients:
- 1 oz Elderflower liqueur/ elderflower syrup
- 3-4 mint leaves
- 1 small lime
- 4-5 oz Ruffino Prosecco Extra Dry, chilled
- Edible flowers
- Fill a wine glass with ice.
- Pour one ounce of Elderflower liqueur/syrup directly over the ice and then add a few mint leaves and a slice of lime. Top off the glass with 4-5 ounces of chilled prosecco. Briefly stir and enjoy immediately! To add some glam to your drink, you can make some floral ice by adding edible flowers of your choice, to your ice tray and filling it with water.
Piña Colada Wine Punch
In a twist on the classic beachy drink, add a bit of Inniskillin Cellar Select Sauvignon Blanc to create the ultimate piña colada wine punch.

This popular white is the perfect addition with notes of citrus, melon and grapefruit, adding more flavour to the tropical drink.
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup pineapple juice
- 2 tbsp coconut cream
- 1 tbsp white rum (optional)
- 1/2 cup Inniskillin Cellar Select Sauvignon Blanc
- 1/4 cup pineapple chunks
- Ice cubes
- Pineapple slice and maraschino cherry for garnish
- In a blender, combine the pineapple juice, coconut cream, and white rum and blend until smooth. In a serving glass, pour in the Sauvignon Blanc. Slowly pour the blended pineapple mixture into the glass with the wine, stirring gently to mix the ingredients together. Fill the glass with ice cubes. Garnish with a pineapple slice and a maraschino cherry for a tropical touch.
Classic Sangria
Can they really call it summer without a shared pitcher of chilled red wine sangria?
To make any sangria a people pleaser, add Jackson-Triggs Proprietors’ Selection Merlot, a light to medium ruby wine with notes of fresh blackberries, mocha and plum on the finish.

Ingredients:
- 1 bottle Jackson-Triggs Proprietors’ Selection Merlot
- 1/4 cup brandy
- 1/4 cup orange liqueur (such as triple sec or Cointreau)
- 1/4 cup simple syrup
- 1 cup orange juice
- 1 cup sliced mixed fruits ( oranges, apples, berries)
- Sparkling water (optional, for serving)
- Ice cubes
- In a large pitcher, combine the Jackson-Triggs Proprietors’ Selection Merlot, brandy, orange liqueur, simple syrup, and orange juice. Stir well to combine the ingredients.
- Add the sliced mixed fruits to the pitcher and gently stir. Place the pitcher in the refrigerator and let the sangria chill for at least 2 hours or overnight to allow the flavours to meld together. When ready to serve, fill glasses with ice cubes.
- Garnish with additional fruit slices, if desired.
