One of Vancouver’s (BC Canada) must-visit restaurant this summer is the newly opened LOCAL Public Eatery River District.
Located in the heart of the River District, LPE River District offers a diverse roster of food and beverages, including craft cocktails and 16 beer taps, pouring a wide variety of local craft brews and always-on staples.
Energetic & Vibrant Atmosphere
The restaurant boasts an energetic and vibrant atmosphere with the ideal setting for happy hour, weekend brunch, and dinner with friends.
The new River District location features garage doors to allow for an indoor/outdoor feel, while a large digital screen will broadcast sports events on game nights.
The restaurant’s design showcases a double-height space with a mezzanine floor, named the ‘Trophy Room,’ that will offer premium tequila and spirits for groups, teams and celebrations.
Menu
From the LOCAL Fried Chicken and Truffle Cheeseburger, to the Calabrian Caesar Salad and #1 Ahi Tuna Poké Bowl, and comforting mains like Steak & Fries too, there is something on the menu for everyone.
With a fun approach to drinking, LPE River District also brings its “wine without rules” motto to the table, featuring a party pitcher of wine called the porron, and playful rosé shots; as well as entertaining options like the pot of Cold Tea for a tipsy tea party.
What We Tried
We attended a media tasting and tried a variety of their drink and food offerings.
Beet Hummus
Roasted red beet and chickpea hummus with olive oil, feta, fresh mint and crispy tortilla chips. These were amazing! We were scrapping off every last bit of hummus.
Pinche Beef Tacos
Three slow-cooked beef tacos, shredded cabbage, feta and cilantro.
Shrimp Dumplings
Six steamed dumplings with ginger and garlic chili sauce, spicy mayo, sliced green onion and cilantro.
Chicken & Tortilla Market Salad
Roasted corn, tomatoes, avocado, scallions, crispy tortilla in a romaine and arugula mix with a smoky lemon dressing.
Blue Crush
Captain Morgan white rum, blue curaçao, pineapple, lemon and aloha.
Spicy Guava Margarita
Cuervo Tradicional Plata Tequila, Triple Sec, guava, lime, pepper, Tajin.
BBQ Rice Bowl
Korean BBQ-style pork in ginger, garlic and soy sauce, fried egg, pickled onion, citrusy cabbage, cilantro and spicy mayo. This bowl was delish!
Wagyu Hot Dog
Sonoran-style wrapped in bacon, caramelized onions, black beans, avocado crema, Valentina’s, feta cheese and pickle with fries. This was one of the more unique items on the menu.
Peanut Butter & Chocolate Cup
Two layers topped with Oreo crumble, vanilla ice cream and salted caramel sauce. A very delicious dessert with vanilla, caramel and Oreo bits.
Pilsner Urquell
4.4% Czech Premium Lager
Cold Tea
A tipsy tea party with a house-made Jameson whiskey mix served by-the-pot and poured into teacups. No pinky extending required!
Negroni from The Trophy Room
We really enjoyed the lively, contemporary environment at LPE River District. My favourites were the Beet Hummus; Chicken & Tortilla Salad; BBQ Rice Bowl; “Cold Tea;” and Peanut Butter & Chocolate Cup.
