Sliced pork with chili sauce $12.50

Pan fried pork bun $11.25

The dining experience is slightly more upscale than your typical Chinese restaurant. The food and service was good. Prices seemed reasonable for the portions that you get.

I liked all the dishes we tried and would order all of them again actually. The Peking duck skin was nice and crispy. The pan-fried pork buns had a nice crispy bottom. The marinated bean curd and celery and sliced pork with spicy sauce were solid. The house-made steamed pork dumplings were good but their broth isn’t super rich and heavy which is fine.

The restaurant is very busy so reservations are recommended. We didn’t have a reservation so we were put in a small side room with no windows rather than the large, main dining area.

Shanghai River is a spacious restaurant with a contemporary décor. Good for small or large grolups. There’s a window where you can watch the dumpling chefs at work.

Overall, a nice place for locals or if you’re visiting Metro Vancouver, they’re a good restaurant to try authentic Chinese dishes too.

They offer free covered parking within the condo building complex that they are part of.

Shanghai River Restaurant is located at 7831 Westminster Hwy, Richmond, BC.
