ALTITUDE Sky Lounge, Astra Hotel’s rooftop bar, and lounge ushering in the spring season with a new, seasonal cocktail menu created by Michael Barnett, previously the General Manager of esteemed establishments such as STK Steakhouse in Bellevue and Cinque Terre ristorante in Seattle.
These five new cocktails are an ode to nature’s awakening after a long slumber, and all have their own personality.
Altitude 151, the signature cocktail
Long ago a seed was planted. Carefully that seed was nurtured, watered, and loved. Throughout time it grew stronger and stronger. With each passing year growing to new heights. Then suddenly last spring, after careful cultivation it bloomed. The most beautiful flower. A flower that towers over South Lake Union. The flower of hospitality that welcomes all to break bread, be merry, drink and laugh. Today, that beautiful bloom rests 151 feet above. A beacon to the people that seek life in the sky.
Quarterly, it will change based on the season. It will always be a whiskey-inspired drink. Each quarter the name will change to new heights of the hotel. Altitude 151 is the height of the ground floor of Altitude Sky Lounge.
Ingredients: Ardbeg scotch, High West double rye, Drambuie, Luxardo Served over our clear big rock. Logo stamped. Served on a walnut plank with a brandy-soaked orange slice that is flamed table side.
Thetis’s Wrath
Thetis, the beautiful goddess of the sea looked down on the world she helped create. The pain for her son consumed her. Her poor Calibos is destined to live a life of disfigurement. Forever separated from his one true love Princess Andromeda. Thetis, in her indignation, witnessed the love of Andromeda and Perseus grow. Realizing that the son of Zeus was protected, she proclaimed the destruction of Joppa if Andromeda was not sacrificed. Setting the stage for the Kraken to be awakened by Poseidon and for her wrath to be fulfilled.

Ingredients: Coconut-infused rums, lemon, Domaine Canton, Coco water, and tiki bitters with a drizzle of Spiced Kraken rum. Served in a Collins glass over ice with a coconut rim.
Barista Borracho
Our inspiration was the Espresso Martini. Trending currently with the same recipe everyone uses.Not at Altitude. Their cocktail is Mezal laced. Adding a smokiness to the wonderful taste of coco, with bitterness from our homemade cold brew. With beautiful layers of complexity, this cocktail quenches the thirst of our Espresso martini-craving friends but adds a unique taste to expand their palette and craving.
Ingredients: Mezcal, Averna, Crème D Cocoa, cold brew Shaken and double strained in a coup with a dusting of Cinnamon.
Opening Day
As a young child, restless from winter’s slumber, I remember the first day of warmth. The smell of fresh cut grass, a crisp yet warm breeze blowing through open windows. The sun shining brightly with the sound of baseball being called through a transistor radio. The hopes of Summer shortly arriving.
Ingredients: Gunpowder Gin, Dill, cucumber, jalapeno, salt, agave, lime Muttled dill, cucumber, jalepeno, salt. Add gin and skaken served up in a coup with a cucumber flower and black lave sea salt rim.
Hellbent
Lili, our heroine. Her smooth doll-like skin was graced by beautiful locks of black hair. Blue eyes that glistened of sapphire and aquamarine. Beauty that tantalized all humans and one particular exiled angel. Her childhood friend Jack O’ the Green had fallen for her beauty and was to ask her to be his wife, which she would have said yes, given half the chance. But love was not viable the day, Lucifer stole her. Bringing her with him to the depths of Hell. Jack O’ knew he would have to rescue her and the only way was to ride the wings of a red dove that knew the way to hell. After capturing the rare dove, he began his journey to claim what was rightfully his.
Ingredients: Hennessy, pink pepper charred strawberry syrup, lemon, grapefruit Shaken on ice and served in the Bird glass with a black pepper garnish.
