Magpies Softserve is an artisan soft-serve purveyor in Los Angeles with locations in Silver Lake and Highland Park as well as Tarzana, CA.
On the menu are soft serve flavors like Malted Milk Chocolate; Chocolate Pudding; Graham Cracker; Key Lime; Flourless Chocolate Cake; Thai Tea and more. Flavors are labeled as to whether they contain dairy, are gluten-free or are vegan.
At the time of my visit, the prices were Mini Cup ($5.25); Junior Cup ($5.75); Regular Cup (6.25); and Waffle Cone ($6.50). Toppings were $1 each.
Their housemade toppings include Chocolate Hardshell; Vegan Caramel; Fudge; Honeycomb Candy; Brownie Bites; Candied Pecans; Butterscotch Krispies and so forth.
They also offer Soft Serve Pies in options like Coconut Caramel (with graham cracker crust, devil’s food cake, toasted coconut, caramel whipped topping, fudge, caramel and sugar cookies); Butterscotch (with butterscotch chips, chocolate crust, fudge, butterscotch Rice Krispie bark, whipped cream, brown sugar pecan crumble and butterscotch hardshell); Vegan Original (with Corn Almond softserve layered with vegan fudge, honeycomb, topped with non-dairy whipped cream and fried candied cornflake streusel).
Interior layout and decor were simple with very spacious; no indoor dining seats or tables but there are few high top tables in front.
We got the Strawberry Banana soft-serve with Chocolate Sauce and the Coconut Vanilla Bean soft-serve with Brownie Bites. Both were delicious! The flavors were good and the toppings seemed home-style.
