Vancouver’s beloved Korean street food truck is now opening a brick-and-mortar location in Gastown. Meet Frying Pan Gastown!
Frying Pan Gastown Opening Date & Location
Opening on Wednesday, December 2, Frying Pan Gastown is a new 2,200 square-foot licensed counter-service restaurant at 60 West Cordova Street (formerly occupied by Tuc Craft Kitchen).
Frying Pan Gastown will be the first brick-and-mortar location for the family-owned business founded by husband-and-wife team Chef Jacob Jung and Sunny Jung, who have been operating their popular Downtown food truck at the corner of Burrard and Pender since September 2017.
The Gastown space offers seating for more than 80 diners during regular operations, however will be limited to 38 guests with current public health restrictions in place.
Frying Pan Gastown Menu
The menu will feature an expanded menu that showcases the authentic Korean street-food items that the mobile eatery is known for – such as crispy Nashville-meets-Korean-style fried chicken sandwiches, Teriyaki rice bowls and saucy fries – as well as some new specialty dishes.
Exclusively available at the Gastown location, new signature offerings include:
- Bacon Cheese Fries ($13)
- Hot Chicken Tacos ($14)
- Chicken and Waffles ($15)
- Double-Decker Sandwich ($16) – a feature that sees two boneless fried chicken thighs – one slathered with sweet soy sauce, the other in yang nyeom sauce –lettuce, marble cheese and house mayo stacked between two toasted buns.
For a limited time, Frying Pan Gastown will also serve a Family Feast ($48) combo meal designed for sharing.
Available exclusively for the winter season, the family-style spread includes a choice of two chicken sandwiches, bacon cheese fries, boneless fried chicken bites (with a choice of soy garlic, yang-nyeom or honey garlic sauce), two mayo sauces, slaw and pickles.
Bar
From the bar, guests will be invited to imbibe with a casual roster of draft and canned bears from local breweries – such as Parkside Brewery and Yellow Dog Brewing Co. in Port Moody, and Bomber Brewing in Vancouver – in addition to a selection of unique signature cocktails like the Hot Chicken Caesar ($10) garnished with a piece of boneless fried chicken.
Hours
Frying Pan Gastown will be open Tuesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. for dine-in and takeout service starting Wednesday, December 2.
The Frying Pan food truck will resume to serve lunch from its downtown parking spot at 505 Burrard Street on weekdays from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and will be on site at the Riley Park Farmers’ Market on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m, January 2021.
