Eat Chicken Wraps – Food Truck

Although I had seen the Eat Chicken Wraps food truck parked on Robson and Howe regularly, I had not considered trying their food.  The idea of a chicken wrap just seemed boring to me so I did not look into their offerings.  It wasn’t until I saw people walking away from the truck with a large delicious-looking wrap in their hands that I realized that their wraps are not boring at all!

Love at First Bite

A few weeks ago, I attended a media event for the Food Cart Festival where they provided me with food vouchers.  After walking past the string of food trucks, I finally decided on trying Eat Chicken Wraps.  The wraps looked absolutely mouth-watering and the long line-up of eager customers shows how popular their food is.  I tried the Hoisin Chicken Roll ($8) which had chicken, salad, Hoisin sauce in a green onion pancake.  The wrap was neatly placed in a small bag.  It was love at first bite: the wrap was a mouthful of sweet and sour flavour explosion and the pancake was deliciously crispy and flakey.  I did find the pancake a tad greasy, but still tolerable.  The chicken was tender and juicy and oh so good!   I eat green onion pancakes from time to time because my husband and mother-in-law like to make them at home, but the one from Eat Chicken Wraps was just absolutely delicious.

Eat Chicken Wraps @ Robson and Howe

The regular location of Eat Chicken Wraps is at Robson and Howe.  It was late afternoon and I made my way there because I wanted to try another one of their offerings.  Unfortunately for me, they had sold out of their Chicken Caesar and Buffalo Chicken Wraps.  I expressed to the person attending the window that I really loved green onion pancake from the Hoisin Chicken Roll.  He convinced me to try the Chicken Al Pastor Wrap but with the green onion pancake.  The wrap had Mexican roasted chicken, pico de gallo (salsa), grilled pineapple, cilantro, fresh lime juice, lettuce, onions and garlic sauce.  I got excited and the results were not disappointing.

On the first bite, you get this amazingly nice crunch from the fresh lettuce, and then the juices from the chicken pieces flow into your mouth accompanied by the mayo and the crispy texture of the green onion pancake wrap.

I also liked how they had napkins were neatly wrapped around the bag and they provided a wet wipe too.  Very considerate of them!

Some differences I noticed

I did notice a few differences from my experience with them at their regular location versus the Food Cart Festival.  The Hoisin Chicken Roll is priced at $8 at the Food Cart Fest versus $7 at the regular location, but I do not know if there are any differences in portions.  I also received a wet wipe and napkins when I received the food at their normal Downtown spot.

Overall Impression

Eat Chicken Wraps is definitely one of my favorite food trucks in Vancouver.  The name of their truck is not really memorable and enticing, but the deliciousness of the food speaks for itself.  The value is also excellent.  At $7 for a wrap, you will definitely be full.  Rating: 5/5
