When it comes to bakeries offering cheese tarts, Vancouver is quite behind compared to Toronto which is home to Canadian locations of Uncle Tetsu and Pablo. T&T Supermarket jumped on the cheese tart craze and started offering cheese tarts. These were advertised to have “lava” cheesy fillings and came in six flavours: Original, Chocolate Cheese, Green Tea, Purple Yam, Bacon Onion and Chicken Vegetable. They even offered a deal of Buy 5 Get 1 Free.
I was curious as to how these T&T cheese tarts fared and bought one of each flavour.
The crust tasted quite similar to their egg tart shells. But what about the “lava” filling?
I had dreamed about some soft, oozy fillings like those advertised from Pablo.
But instead, I got a filling that was more on the “solid” side. I must say that these tarts were transported from the store to my home and there was about a half an hour interval in between. But seeing how solid the filling was, I can only speculate that the filling was never that lava-like to begin with.
After trying all flavours, I would say that the flavours (both sweet and savoury) were largely forgettable.
Overall Impression of T&T Supermarket Cheese Tarts
Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy any of the cheese tarts offered by T&T. Their lack of anything close to a lava-like filling was a great disappointment. I would not recommend these to others. Nevertheless, I continue to be a regular customer of T&T Supermarket and will continue to review products of theirs which seem interesting to me.
