I recently saw a Tim Hortons Youtube commerical advertising two new breakfast sandwiches: the croissant breakfast sandwich and the eggs benedict breakfast sandwich. Two of my favourite breakfast items indeed are a croissant sandwich and eggs benedict so I decided to try out Tim Horton’s version.
I went to the Tim Hortons located 865 West Broadway in Vancouver. It’s a rather spacious Tim Hortons because it used to be shared with Wendy’s, which has since closed. It is a rather dimly lit place so I wouldn’t suggest coming here to do work on your laptop, for example.
The croissant breakfast sandwich is priced at $3.79 each or $5.99 with a coffee and hashbrown. You have choice of sausage or bacon. Similarly, the eggs benedict breakfast sandwich is $3.29 or $5.49 as a meal.
The eggs benedict sandwich came with a fluffy egg omelette, bacon, cheese and hollandaise sauce on a toasted English muffin. The hollandaise sauce was on the heavy side though still lemony. The egg omelette was thick and decently sized while the bacon was crispy and greasy within reason.
The croissant breakfast sandwich, on the other hand, was more of a disappointment. The croissant itself was burnt in several places around the edges. That sort of ruined the overall taste of the sandwich already. The egg omelette and cheese were the same as the eggs benedict sandwich. The sausage patty was what you would expect as a fast food item – greasy, edible, chewy and mildly enjoyable.
The hashbrowns, on the other hand, were very crispy and tasty but greasy.
Overall Impression of Tim Horton’s Breakfast Sandwiches
The eggs benedict sandwich tasted better than the croissant sandwich in my opinion. The hollandaise sauce was reasonably tasty for a fast-food item. The burnt edges on my croissant sandwich was a miss for me. Rating: 3/5
