If you’re a solo traveller looking to visit Whistler next year, you might want to consider staying at the new, chic and affordable Pangea Pod Hotel. Opening April 2018, the Pangea Pod Hotel is Canada’s first pod accommodation concept situated in the centre of the pedestrian Village. With its clever design and prime location at an budget-friendly price-point, Pangea is set to fill Whistler’s void between hostels and hotels. This new and exciting accommodation offering is unlike anything else in Whistler and speaks to sophisticated, value- conscious guests unwilling to compromise on location, function and aesthetics.
Pangea will feature eight custom suites consisting of a total of 88 private sleeping pods. Each boutique pod is lined in wood, fitted with a comfy double mattress and equipped with individually controlled LED lights, a built-in fan, USB and standard receptacle charging points as well as a lockable cabinet for valuables, hanging space for clothes and a storage area for luggage. Mirrors and artwork create a warm personal space, while curtains provide further privacy.
High-end, spa-like showers, washrooms, vanities and changing rooms, more than 60 in total, are all individually accessed, enclosed and located within the suites themselves.
Pangea’s guests will relish the lively atmosphere and connection to Whistler in the stylish communal spaces, with Pangea’s “Living Room” serving as the property’s hub. The Living Room’s large drop-down glass panels were carefully selected to create the feel of an outdoor patio, with long shared tables in the café for socializing and cozy sitting areas in the bar and lounge for relaxing. A fireplace reminiscent of the stoves of bygone times accentuates the ambience.
Pangea’s café and bar on the second floor, and outdoor patio on the third floor, overlook the Village Stroll and offer guests the best of people-watching. Here guests will plan their next day’s exploits and trade tips and adventure must-do’s with other travellers while they devour simple yet delicious meals from the café, sip on barista-made cappuccinos and Americanos from the espresso bar or toast the day with craft beer, glasses of wine or cocktails if the occasion calls for something stronger. L ighting fast, free wi-fi will keep Pangea’s guests connected throughout the property.
A meticulously designed open-plan gear area with secure storage for skis / snowboards and mountain bikes, and private lockers for accessories and outer shell gear, will ensure that everything a guest needs to enjoy Whistler’s outdoors is safely stored.
“Pangea will reinvent accommodation in Whistler for a generation of travelers who expect more for less and want to spend their money on experiences, not on several hundred feet of hotel room space in which they simply sleep” says Russell Kling, Pangea‘s co-founder. “Our guests seek a killer location, brilliant design, a cool vibe and certain key elements of privacy. They have money to spend, but not to waste.”
