Afternoon tea is definitely one of my favourite foodie activities. I am regularly on the lookout for deals for afternoon tea as many restaurants put out offers on sites like Groupon and Social Shopper. I recently got a one month trial of the digital Entertainment coupon membership for a mere $0.99 USD only. It was exciting when I found a BOGO deal for Neverland Tea Salon and I immediately made a reservation on Opentable to go there with a friend. The full high tea cost is $30 for one set so the BOGO deal is really worth it.
Take Me to Neverland
The interior of Neverland Tea Salon is whimsical, creative and classy and not so much “Grand-ma’s house.” Little tea cups are strung from above while quotes from Peter Pan adorn the walls.
Neverending Pots of Tea
One of the great things about Neverland Tea Salon is the unlimited pots of tea. I have experienced elsewhere where you only get one refill (though the cost of the overall high tea was cheaper). Their tea list is extensive with over 60 types of tea. My friend had the Vanilla Ice Cream which was a vanilla and black tea blend. I tried one of their summer tea features, Summer Romance, which was a Ceylon black tea and Japanese sencha blend with summer berries, jasmine flowers, calendula and rose petals. As a black tea lover, I found Summer Romance to be very fragrant and pleasing.
Neverland High Tea
There were five savoury sandwiches: Thai red curry egg salad; chicken salad; lemon herbed cream cheese, cucumber and arugula; open faced pesto and chicken; and brie and pear croissant. All the sandwiches were very delicious. The Thai red curry egg salad was my favourite as the filling was very creamy. The chicken salad had ample meat portions and was herby. The brie and pear croissant was nicely toasted with a great contrasting flavours between the sweetness of the pear and the saltiness of the brie.
The four pastries were sheer decadence: chai chocolate mousse, raspberry and strawberry tartlet, and lemon curd and blackberry marshmellow on a thyme shortbread crust and Bailey’s cheesecake chocolate hazelnut brownie. I absolutely loved the buttery flaky shortbread crust of the lemon curd and blackberry marshmellow. The mousse was light, fluffy and creamy – a definite party in the mouth. The sweet crust of the raspberry and strawberry tartlet was rich and crisp. The Bailey’s cheesecake was my least favourite as the Bailey’s flavour is not a taste that I enjoy personally.
The top tier consisted of a sugar-coated scone which had a soft interior and rich golden crunchy exterior.

Service
We did find the service to be more relaxed, but for afternoon tea you wouldn’t want to feel rushed. Our server did not recognize the Entertainment coupon so a more senior staff member helped her out.
Overall Impression of Neverland Tea Salon
My friend and I both enjoyed the afternoon tea experience at Neverland Tea Salon. The ambiance was relaxed and charming, while the food was scrumptious. We both agreed that we would pay full price for the afternoon tea set. Rating: 4.5/5
