The wait is almost over! MUJI is opening their first Canadian flagship store on Saturday, December 2nd, 2017 at 10am at 1125 Robson Street. With 14,507 square feet of retail space and more than 4,500 products, MUJI Vancouver will be MUJI’s largest store outside of Asia. The location will not only carry MUJI Canada’s full range of merchandise including household goods, apparel, and food, but it will also feature a brand-new store concept and many products and services never seen before in Canada. They are just getting the last pieces put together to make it a seamless opening, all of their stock is in the warehouse in the back, with the number of supplies going out they have had to get themselves warehouse racking to fit everything in, warehouse racking at Erect-A-Rack is one of the many places they could have gone to get it for their store, as long as they are prepared for the customers this coming Saturday, we are happy!
Here are a few of the novelties at MUJI Robson:
MUJI Labo
MUJI Labo collection is only available in select MUJI flagship stores around the world. MUJI Labo began as a special project in 2005 to explore basic concepts in apparel from a free and creative approach. “Labo” stands for laboratory, an appropriate name as the purpose of the line is to experiment with new styles, materials and manufacturing processes. What MUJI Labo learns through product development eventually becomes standard apparel in MUJI stores, reflecting practical design and conscientious materials that consider both the producer and the environment.
MUJI Coffee Counter
MUJI Canada partnered with Ethical Bean Coffee, a leading supplier of 100% fairtrade certified, organic coffee. Based in Vancouver, Ethical Bean is committed to social responsibility, global awareness, and environmental accountability, while constantly seeking new ways to make their coffee both just and better. The coffee counter at MUJI Robson Street will serve simple and affordable coffee by the cup.
MUJI YOURSELF
MUJI YOURSELF is a customization service including embroidery, stamps, gift wrapping, and label printing. While stamps, embroidery and gift wrapping are already available in select Canadian stores, the Robson Street location will offer label printing for the first time. A vast selection of labels and personalization options will allow customers to customize various MUJI products such as stationery, storage, furniture, etc. While the MUJI label printing is a great idea, for something a bit more professional for those in the packaging industry, these private label manufacturers may be something you want to look into.
Aroma Bar
The Aroma Bar will allow customers to create a customized fragrance blend by choosing from more than 40 essential oils. In addition to regular MUJI essential oils, customers will have many more options to further personalize their home with unique scents.
MUJI expanded to Canada in 2014, with the opening of Toronto’s Atrium location (Yonge and Dundas), followed by the Square One Shopping Centre location in Mississauga, the Yorkdale Shopping Centre location and the CF Markville location in Markham. Earlier this year, MUJI expanded to British Columbia with the opening of the Metropolis at Metrotown location in Burnaby.
