Whistler Farmer’s Market Finds: Golden Crust

Whistler Farmer's Market

Farmer’s Markets are such wondrous places of gastronomic discoveries.  On our recent family trip to Whistler, we had our friends (a couple and their daughter) join us there for a few days.  The Whistler Farmer’s Market was happening one of those days and that is when our friends found Golden Crust.  While they have a brick and mortars store in Squamish, Golden Crust are regulars at Farmer’s Markets were they sell their infamous “Sea to Sky delicious” pocket pies.  Seeing how tasty they looked, our friends purchased a few for everyone to try including apricot, strawberry rhubarb and blueberry apple.

When my family met up with them back at the hotel, we cut up the various pocket pies to share.  It was love at first bite starting from the tasty, buttery, and flaky golden crust.  The fruit fillings were delightful – a bit tart and definitely not too sweet.  The crust to filling ratio was just perfect.  These pies really had a lovely homemade feel.

On my next visit to Squamish, I’d be interested in visiting their bakery.  They sell frozen baked goods for you to take home and bake; I think that just might be a good option for me.  I can bake them and savour them whenever I’m in need of a comforting pie.  Rating: 5/5
