I love a nice cozy, cafe where you can relax and enjoy fresh, comfortable food and drinks. Fondway Cafe seems like the kind of place where you can spend a lazy afternoon or meet with friends over delicious eats. It is conveniently located just steps from the Metrotrain Skytrain Station (but not part of the mall). Last weekend, I attended a special media preview of Fondway Cafe where all of their signature dishes (over 20 of them) were available for tasting.
Cozy and Quaint
The interior of Fondway Cafe is cozy and quaint with high ceilings and whimsical decor. For seating, there is one large communal table along with smaller dining tables. Look for the cute drawings on the wall which liven up the space or admire their impressive selection of tea presented on shelves.
Sandwiches, Soups, Salads
Fondway Cafe’s signature savoury and sweet items were all available at the media event. Attendees feasted their eyes and their stomachs on a droolworthy spread.
Savoury items featured that evening included multi-grain turkey, croissant ham, multi-grain croissant with chicken, waffle pork, Taiwanese tuna, and Taiwanese Pumpkin crab.
Based on the items that I tried, the ingredients were fresh and delicious. It was interesting how the Taiwanese Tuna sandwich did not have any crusts. I enjoyed the dressing of the house salad which was light and refreshing. The sandwiches were most definitely a handful in size! One of their soups was a clam chowder and I must say that it was quite good. I normally would not consider ordering a clam chowder at an Asian restaurant but it certainly did not disappoint.

Sweets That Satisfy
I thought that Fondway Cafe really shined with their desserts. Yes, I am a dessert kind-of-gal and I definitely enjoyed their sweets. Fondway’s selection of cake include caramel Earl Grey, red bean matcha, cheesecake just to name a few. The presentation of the cakes were undoubetedly gorgeous. I was really impressed with how the cakes were light, moist and delicious though not overly sweet. The Asian-inspired red bean matcha cake was my favourite; I am a fan of both red bean and matcha separately but they do make a terrific duo.

Coffee, Tea and Drinks
Fondway Cafe has a range of coffee, tea, tea lattes, and even cold brew. They also have a tasty selection of Asian-inspired drinks including the grass jelly milk and coffee jelly milk.

Overall Impression of Fondway Cafe
I enjoyed the cozy cafe fare from Fondway and their lovely space makes it a nice hangout. I most recommend their cakes which are light, moist and delicious though not overly sweet. You definitely don’t need to feel so guilty about it after. Rating: 4.5/5
