The world we live continues to be challenged by climate change. In the last decade, our winters have become shorter and warmer. The reality is that Canada’s climate is affected and at a fast pace.
Finlandia Vodka (Finlandia) has partnered with Protect Our Winters (POW), the leading climate change advocacy group for the snow sports community, in an effort to reduce the effects of global climate change. Finlandia believes that if you are kind to nature it will return the favour and they are donating one per cent of its total April sales from the British Columbia market to POW. This partnership was facilitated by 1% for the Planet, an organization that dedicated to building an alliance of businesses that are financially committed to creating a healthier planet. Their work includes bring organizations like POW with influential brands to collaborate on projects for a healthier planet.
I recently attended a media event which brought together winter sports athletes, media and key influencers. The occasion mobilized the winter sports community in Vancouver and Canada to help fund POW’s educational initiatives, advocacy and community based activism campaigns.
