Wear your little black dress (or suit!) for a glamorous evening of jazz, ballet, opera and giving back at Little Black Dress Gala spring event. Held at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver on May 26, 2017 and hosted by Help Change My City Alliance (HCMC), the evening features an elegant celebration of the arts, education and fashion. 1,000 guests adorned in little black dresses and suits are expected.
Youth and women are the primary focus of the Little Black Dress Gala, with proceeds going to support the HCMC Alliance. The HCMC Alliance provides mentorship to youth in schools, teaching them how to care for one another within their school context and gives direction to troubled and underprivileged youth in the Vancouver community helping them find employment. HCMC Alliance also gives post-secondary bursaries to youth who have overcome challenging circumstances and want to go on to higher education. The Gala also gifts tickets and little black dresses to several women in need from local shelters and/or women’s centres, to encourage them, to show them that they are deeply appreciated and supported by the community in Metro Vancouver.
The aim of the event is to draw attention to established and emerging designers who are not only given to their craft but also have a heart for showcasing their style and ingenuity for positive social impact in Vancouver. It is also designed to create new opportunities for local youths allowing them to reach new potentials in their futures. The Little Black Dress Gala has reached out to the local community of Metro Vancouver to partner with musicians, dancers and local designers to be showcased during the event.
