Mango Macarons at Bon Macaron Patisserie

Bon Macaron Patisserie

One of my favourite places to get macarons in Vancouver is at Bon Macaron Patisserie.  Originally from Victoria, Bon Macaron Patisserie now has two locations in Vancouver: one in Kitsilano and one inside the Granville Island public market.  I had previously visited their Kitsilano location and this time I’ll be discussing my recent visit to their Granville Island shop.

Large Selection of Flavours

Bon Macaron Patisserie has a wide selection of fun and unique flavours; there is definitely something for everyone.   In fact, they now have over 50 macaron flavours, including sweet and savoury ones.  There really isn’t anywhere in Vancouver that has that many options.

Their macarons are sold at a very reasonable price point of $1.50 each.  Most places in Vancouver sell them for at least $2.   At the new Laduree store in Vancouver, macarons are $3.00 (2 x the price).  Obviously, Laduree is a premium luxury product where their macarons are flown in from Paris to be sold in the Vancouver store.  Laduree macarons are without a doubt delicious but I can’t say that they are that much better than what is produced locally like at Bon Macaron Patisserie.  Rather, supporting a local business is a wonderful thing.

Mango Flavours

I had previously named Bon Macaron in Vancity Buzz as a go-to place for a delicious mango macaron.  This time, I had the mango orange, spicy mango chutney, and mango papaya.  All the flavours were on point but I thought the mango orange was the fruitiest.  The spicy mango chutney is a very creative flavour and was just subtely spicy which is nice for a macaron.

With regards to texture, it was perfect as usual.  Meringue-like texture with an eggshell-like outer crust.

Chinese New Year Macaron

While Bon Macaron has three stores in BC (1 in Victoria, 2 in Vancouver), they also have special booths set up at local events from time to time.  I saw them at the Aberdeen Chinese New Year fair earlier this past year and bought one of their limited red bean lantern macarons.

Overall Impression of Bon Macaron Patisserie

I continue to be a fan of Bon Macaron and recommend them to anyone in need of a macaron fix!  Rating: 5/5
